Learn HCX – Topic 10- How to Run Test Fail-over for Virtual Machine using HCX
In last blog we protected your virtual machine, now we will perform test fail over of your virtual machine.
When you are ready to run test fail over, log in to your Cloud HCX manager and go to Services tab.
On left hand side you will find disaster recovery option, click on disaster recovery and select you virtual machine and click test recovery.
Verify the VLAN or VXLAN and click finish to recover machine at cloud side for testing.

Learn HCX – Topic 9- How to Protect Virtual Machine for DR via HCX
As you know HCX can also be use as DR solution. So today we will know how can i configure my virtual machine for DR.
You need to login to on premises virtual center and right click on virtual machine which you want to configure of DR. Go to hybridity actions and click on protect VM
Now you need to define below listed options at cloud/DR site:
- Destination container
- Storage
- Replication interval
- Snapshot Interval
- Number of snapshot to keep
- Destination network
Once you define all option click finish.

Learn HCX – Topic 8 – Steps to Perform Reverse Migration
When we say reverse migration it means migration work load from cloud to on premises.
To perform reverse migration you need to log in to your on premises vCenter and click on HCX plugin.
Go to Migration tab and click on migrate virtual machine.
Now you need to tick mark reverse migration. Once you select reverse migration , your cloud vCenter inventory will be populated to you.
Now you need to select virtual machine which you want to bring back to on premises and define migration option shown in below screen shot. You have to specify the destination cluster, destination datstore , Type of disk provision and most important is type of migration (vmotion or bulk migration) and select or verify the correct VXLAN or VLAN where you want to place your machine. Once you define all option click next.
Review and click on finish to start migration.
Monitor the task till it gets complete.
